External livestream

← Back to hub · For public and judges

Use this when the competition streams to its own YouTube channel (for example with vMix or OBS Studio) instead of the Acro Companion app. You add each livestream to Acro Companion, and every exercise opens the right moment of the stream for the public and for head and superior judges.

1. Prerequisites

  • A YouTube livestream (or recording) per zone, set to public or unlisted.
  • No Android device is needed.

2. Enable it

  1. Go to Administration → Scoring Config → Video Integration and tick Public, IRCOS, or both.

  2. Select Competition uses external livestreaming solution.

  3. Click Add new livestream and fill in one row per stream:

Field What to enter
Zone The zone (floor) the stream films
Platform YouTube
YouTube video id or URL The YouTube link or video id. A full link is converted to the id automatically
Start date / Start time When the stream started. Required
End date / End time When the stream ended. Optional: leave both empty while the stream is still running
  1. Click Test to check that the video opens.
  2. Save.

3. How Acro Companion finds the exercise in the livestream

Acro Companion does not trim your video. Instead, it opens your YouTube livestream and goes straight to the moment the exercise begins:

  1. When an exercise starts in Acro Companion, the app records its start time.

  2. When someone clicks the Video button, Acro Companion selects the livestream that was running in the exercise’s zone at that time.

  3. The jump position is calculated by subtracting the livestream start time from the exercise start time, in seconds.

For example, if the livestream started at 09:00:00 and the exercise started at 09:10:20, the video opens at 10 minutes and 20 seconds.

  4. The video stops at the end of the exercise.

⚠️ Important: Enter the livestream’s Start time as accurately as possible, down to the second. If it is a few seconds off, the video position will be off by the same amount for every exercise linked to that livestream.

4. Several livestreams for one zone

Add a row for each stream, for example one per day. An exercise uses the first row of its zone whose start and end contain the exercise. A row without an end runs until the next row of the same zone starts.

5. How the public watches

Once an exercise has started and its zone has a livestream, each row in the live ranking displays a Video button that opens the livestream at that exercise. The same button also appears on the live starting order, the live schedule and a gymnast's profile.

6. How judges watch

After an exercise has finished, head and superior judges can open its part of the livestream by clicking the Video button on the scoring screen.
