Head Judge

On the Head Judge screen you can digitally control the starting order and judge the exercises.
In all disciplines except Artistic, the Head Judge is referred to as CJP. In Artistic, it's called D1.

1. Exercise Control

The different buttons you might find on this screen and their functionalities are listed below:

1.1 Previous and next exercise

Navigate through the next/previous exercises of the starting order.

Configuration:
This behavior depends on the following option in Scoring & Rankings Configuration: Can the Head Judge navigate exercises, even if the score is not approved.
To configure this behavior, see the corresponding Scoring & Rankings Configuration chapter for your discipline: Acrobatic, Trampoline and Tumbling, Rhythmic, WAG or MAG.

  • Disabled: The Head Judge cannot navigate to the previous/next exercise until the current exercise is approved.
  • Enabled: The Head Judge can navigate freely between exercises, even if the current exercise is incomplete.

Note:

  • When navigating away from an incomplete exercise, a warning toast notification is displayed to inform the user that the exercise was changed before approval.
  • By default, all judges follow the current exercise selected by the Head Judge.
  • When the Head Judge navigates to another exercise, any Head Judge screen opened elsewhere that is in Follow Along mode will automatically navigate as well. See the Navigate Locally/Follow Along section below for more details.

1.2 Call Participant(s)

Calls the participant(s) to start the exercise.

Behavior:

  • Signals that the participant should prepare to start.
  • Displays participant information on configured screens.
  • Changes the exercise state to Performing on the Live Starting Order when timer functionality is not enabled.
  • Helps identify which exercise is currently ongoing.

1.3 Start/Stop exercise

Starts the exercise timer. Clicking a second time stops the timer, marking the end of the exercise.

Configuration:
This button is available when Start/Stop Timer is enabled for the exercise zone in Scoring & Rankings Configuration.

To configure this behavior, see the corresponding Scoring & Rankings Configuration chapter for your discipline: Acrobatic, Trampoline and Tumbling, Rhythmic, WAG or MAG.

Behavior:

  • Changes the exercise state to Performing when the timer starts.
  • After stopping the timer, the exercise state changes to Waiting for Score until scores are submitted and approved.
  • Updates the Live Starting Order exercise status accordingly.

1.4 Refresh exercise

The Refresh button resets the current exercise.

Behavior:

  • Deletes all scores for the current exercise.
  • Resets the exercise state to its initial state (before start), allowing any scoring action to be corrected and re-entered if necessary;
  • Resets the timer if timer functionality is enabled in Scoring & Rankings Configuration.
  • Removes the exercise score from rankings and recalculates rankings.

1.5 Set to DNS

Sets the exercise to "Did Not Start".

Behavior:

  • After setting an exercise to DNS, the system does not automatically navigate to another exercise; the current exercise remains selected until the Head Judge manually opens another exercise.

Ranking behavior:

  • If all exercises for a participant within a ranking are set to DNS, the ranking result will be shown as DNS and no ranking position will be assigned;
  • If only some exercises are set to DNS while others receive scores, the ranking result will be shown as DNF and no ranking position will be assigned.

Note:

  • This ranking behavior is the same for all disciplines.
  • For detailed FIG examples of how DNS and DNF should be applied in each discipline, see the Appendix to the Code of Points 2025–2028 section "DNF & DNS (for each discipline)" on page 16.

1.6 Submit zero score

Submits a score with 0 for all values. Only available in WAG, MAG and Trampoline competitions.

Behavior:

  • A notification appears informing you that the exercise will not be performed.
  • A zero score will be displayed on the competition screens and results.
  • Behaves like a normal submitted score and can be reset using the Refresh Exercise button.
  • Typically used when a gymnast starts, but cannot complete or properly perform the exercise.

1.7 Skip exercise

Skips the exercise without marking it as DNS.

Behavior:

  • The exercise is ignored and not included in rankings;
  • No scores or status are stored;
  • The participant will not appear in results.

Notes:

  • Unlike DNS, this action does not record that the participant failed to start
  • Typically used when an exercise is intentionally not performed, such as:
    • Optional routines in Trampoline qualifications.
    • Artistic team competitions where not all gymnasts perform on every apparatus.

1.7.a Discipline-Specific Features

1.8 Open Execution sheet (Acrobatic only)

The Head Judge can open an execution sheet only if Real Time Execution Judging is enabled for the competition.

Behavior:

  • Displays the same execution sheet panel used by Execution judges;
  • Allows the Head Judge to judge execution.

Note: This does not affect other judges’ screens.

1.9 Get ToF & HD (Trampoline only)

Retrieves ToF and HD scores from Qira software.

Availability:

  • Only available in Trampoline competitions when Qira integration is configured.

Behavior:

  • The behavior of this button depends on the configured Qira integration type.
  • Depending on the configuration, scores may either be retrieved manually or transferred automatically.
  • The button state and color may also vary depending on the configured integration type (WebSockets or WebServices) and connection status.

Configuration: To configure the Qira integration, go to Scoring & Rankings Configuration Chapter, where the available Qira integration types and their behavior are explained in detail.

2. Exercise Navigation and Pause Screen

2.1 Pause screen (Judge overview screen)

The Head Judge can toggle a Pause Screen for all judges.

Behavior:

  • Displays a full-screen view for judges with the judge role (e.g., D1, Execution, etc.), current participants information, and exercise context;
  • Can only be activated by the Head Judge;
  • All judges see this screen simultaneously;
  • Judges cannot control or exit this screen themselves.

Use case: Especially useful at the start of a competition or rotation. Helps judges quickly identify:

  • Their assigned role;
  • Their judging position.

This option controls how you move between exercises.

Follow Along (default):

  • You automatically follow the current exercise selected by any other Head Judge screen that is also in Follow Along mode.
  • When the Head Judge changes the current exercise, your screen updates automatically as well.

Navigate Locally:

  • You can move between exercises independently of other judges
  • Your navigation does not affect the live competition

When to use Navigate Locally:

  • To review previous exercises
  • To check or correct scores
  • To navigate without interrupting the competition

Note: Switching back to Follow Along will return you to the current exercise

2.3 Choose an exercise to set as current

Opens the exercise search dialog, allowing the Head Judge to directly navigate to a specific exercise in the starting order.

Behavior:

  • Displays the list of exercises for the current rotation;
  • Allows searching and filtering exercises;
  • Allows direct navigation to a selected exercise;
  • Can be used even when Previous/Next exercise navigation is restricted until score approval;
  • Can be used as an override to quickly move to another exercise if necessary.

Navigation options:

  • Filter by gymnast name, team number, club, etc.
  • Sort exercises using the table headers.
  • Optionally display exercises outside the current rotation.

How to use:

  1. Click on the search exercise button located at the top-left of the scoring screen.
  1. On the dialog, you will find the list of exercises for the current rotation. If you want to see all the exercises, simply deselect the option show only current rotation exercises.
  1. You can filter the table information using: The table headers to switch between ascending and descending organization The filter button to search for a specific gymnast name, team number, club, etc.
  1. Select the exercise you want to set as the current one and click confirm. You can also double-click the exercise row to immediately set it as the current exercise.

3. Score Management

3.1 Open Missing Scores

Allows the Head Judge to enter scores for judges who have not yet submitted theirs.

Configuration:
To configure this behavior, see the corresponding Scoring & Rankings Configuration chapter for your discipline: Acrobatic, Trampoline and Tumbling, Rhythmic, WAG, or MAG.

  • Red (inactive): Only judges can submit their own scores.
  • Green (active): The Head Judge can enter missing scores on behalf of the judges.

Clicking the button toggles between these two states.

Important:

  • This option only allows the editing of missing (unsubmitted) scores. Submitted scores must be modified directly from the corresponding judge header if permitted by the competition configuration.
  • Useful when only one device is being used to enter scores for multiple judges.

3.2 Add and Change Scores

When the exercise is ready for scoring, the score fields are automatically enabled.

Note: In competitions using the Start/Stop Timer functionality, the fields will only be unlocked after the exercise timer stops.

Behavior:

  • After adding your score, the input field becomes locked;
  • To edit the score again, click on your judge role name (CJP/D1) to unlock the field.

Note: In Trampoline competitions with skill-by-skill judging, Execution judges can only submit their deductions after the CJP Skills field has been filled.

3.3 Adapt Other Judges’ Scores

After the other judges submit their scores, you can click on their role's name to perform different actions:

These actions can only be performed before the total score is approved.

3.3.a Ask the judge to change their score

By selecting the option Ask judge to change his/her score, the selected judge will receive a warning to update his/her score.

3.3.b Change the score yourself

Selecting the option Change the score yourself will unlock that judge's input on your screen, allowing you to add a new score.

3.3.c Flag judge

You can flag a judge if you think their score might be biased.
This flagged score will be visible in the Scoring Statistics feature to help identify possible bias and its impact on rankings.

3.4 Trampoline, Double Mini Trampoline, and Tumbling skill-by-skill judging

For Trampoline, Double Mini Trampoline, and Tumbling competitions skill-by-skill judging, these options are also available. However, instead of clicking on the judge's role, you must click on the deduction for the corresponding element.
After activating either option for changing scores, other elements' deductions can be added to the action by simply clicking on them.

3.5 Approve the Final Score

To approve a score, simply click the orange Approve button.
However, note that in competitions with an SCJP judge, the final score approval may be blocked by the SCJP.

In such cases, you'll only be able to approve the final score once it's unblocked.

See the SCJP chapter for more details about score blocking and approval behavior.
