Inquiry Revision

The Inquiry System allows coaches to request inquiries regarding the difficulty score of a participant or partnership.

Inquiry requests are submitted by the Inquiry Judge on behalf of the coach using the Inquiry screen.

Inquiry Revision is used to review submitted inquiries, manage their status and support the communication of inquiry decisions during the competition.

1. Inquiry Workflow

The inquiry process follows these steps:

  1. A score is published.
  2. A coach requests an inquiry.
  3. The inquiry is added to the list of submitted inquiries.
  4. Notifications are sent to the Superior Head Judge and Scoring Managers.
  5. If the inquiry is submitted within 2 minutes of the score being published, it is automatically accepted.
  6. If the inquiry is submitted after the 2-minute time limit, the Superior Head Judge accepts or declines the inquiry.
  7. Accepted inquiries are evaluated to determine whether the score should change.
  8. If required, the Scoring Manager updates the score.
  9. Competition displays are updated to communicate the inquiry result to the audience.

2. Submit an Inquiry

The Inquiry Screen is used by the Inquiry Judge to submit inquiries on behalf of coaches.

2.1 Accessing the Inquiry Screen

The Inquiry Screen can be opened from any page within the Scoring section that contains the Open Scoring button, including Inquiry Revision.

  1. Click the Open Scoring button.
  2. Select Global → Inquiry.

The Inquiry Screen opens and displays all scored exercises.

Exercises are displayed in chronological order, with the most recently published score displayed first.

2.2 Inquiry Time Limit

The inquiry timer starts when the score is submitted.

Coaches have 2 minutes to submit an inquiry.

Inquiries submitted within the 2-minute time limit are automatically accepted for review.

After the 2-minute period:

  • The timer background turns red.
  • The timer displays the exceeded time.
  • Inquiry submission remains available.
  • The inquiry must be reviewed and manually accepted or declined by the Superior Head Judge.

Note: Automatically accepting an inquiry does not mean that the score will be changed. It means that the inquiry is accepted for review and will be considered by the Superior Head Judge.

In some competition types, submitting an inquiry immediately creates the inquiry. In other competition types, an additional dialog is displayed allowing the coach to enter a suggested difficulty score before submitting the inquiry.

2.3 Submitted Inquiries

The Submitted Inquiries section displays all submitted inquiries.

Inquiries are displayed in chronological order, with the newest inquiry displayed first.

Note: Inquiries apply only to difficulty scores. In Rhythmic Gymnastics competitions, inquiries can be submitted separately for DA (Apparatus Difficulty) and DB (Body Difficulty).

3. Accessing Inquiry Revision

The Superior Head Judge can access Inquiry Revision:

  • From the Inquiry Revision button available in the scoring screen.

  • SCJP receives a dialog notification in their scoring screen when a new inquiry is submitted. Selecting the notification opens Inquiry Revision and automatically selects the corresponding inquiry.

To learn more about accessing Inquiry Revision from the scoring screen, refer to the Superior Head Judge chapter.

3.1 Scoring Managers

Scoring Managers can access Inquiry Revision:

  • From the sidebar, under the Scoring section, select Inquiry Revision.
  • By opening an inquiry notification, if notifications are enabled for the device.

4. Review an Inquiry

Once an inquiry has been submitted, it can be reviewed in Inquiry Revision by the Superior Head Judge.

When Inquiry Revision is opened:

  • The Revision view is displayed.
  • The selected inquiry is automatically highlighted when opened from a notification.
  • The Submitted Inquiries list is displayed.

4.1 Inquiry Status

Each inquiry displays information about the participant, the exercise being reviewed and the current inquiry status.

If the inquiry is submitted within the 2-minute time limit, it is automatically accepted for review. If the inquiry is submitted after the 2-minute time limit, the Superior Head Judge reviews the inquiry and decides whether it should be accepted or declined.

  • Submitted: The inquiry has been received and is awaiting review.

  • Accepted: The inquiry has been accepted for consideration. This does not automatically mean that the score will be changed.

  • Declined: The inquiry has been reviewed and rejected.

4.2 After a Decision

Once a decision has been taken, the Scoring Manager can update the score if required and use the Inquiry Display Controller to communicate the inquiry result to athletes, coaches and spectators.

The Inquiry Display Controller can be accessed:

  • Under Scoring, click → Displays → Inquiry.
  • From Inquiry Revision, click the Open Inquiry Display Controller button, with the relevant exercise pre-selected.

For information about opening and controlling competition displays, refer to the Scoring Screens

4.3 Available Display Actions

In the Inquiry tab, all participants/partnerships with inquiries are displayed. This allows competition officials to manage how inquiry information is shown on competition screens, including scoreboards and livestream displays.

After selecting a participant/partnership, the following actions are available:

4.3.a Inquiry Submitted

Displays the message Inquiry Revision Submitted.

4.3.b Score Remains Unchanged

Displays the message Score Remains Unchanged.

4.3.c Score Changed

4.4 Livestream/TV Display Templates

Inquiry updates can also be displayed in livestreams and television broadcasts.

When an inquiry status is updated through the Inquiry Display Controller, the livestream/TV displays are updated automatically, including the displayed status and visual indicators.

The examples below show the available display templates with an Inquiry Submitted notification. The same templates are used for all inquiry statuses.

5. Exporting Inquiry Data

6. Inquiry Notifications

6.1 Superior Head Judge Notifications

When a new inquiry is submitted, the Superior Head Judge receives a dialog notification in the scoring screen.

Note: If no Superior Head Judge is available, the notification is displayed to the Head Judge (CJP). This is the case in Rhythmic Gymnastics competitions.

6.2 Scoring Manager Notifications

Scoring Managers receive a push notification when a new inquiry is submitted.

The notification is sent to all Scoring Managers and can be received even when Acro Companion is not currently open in the browser.

Selecting the notification opens the Inquiry Revision screen and automatically selects the corresponding inquiry.

6.2.a Managing Notification Settings

Users can view and manage their notification status using the notification bell available on the inquiry Revision page. Clicking the notification bell allows notifications to be enabled for the current device.
