Superior Head Judge

The Superior Jury screen allows the superior jury or the technical Delegate to supervise scores, review exercises, and manage inquiries during the competition.
Depending on the discipline, this role may have a discipline-specific name, such as:

  • SCJP (Superior Chief Judge Panel) in Trampoline and Acrobatic competitions;
  • Superior Jury in Artistic competitions;

1. Score Management

In competitions where a Superior Judge role is enabled, the Superior Judge can temporarily block the approval of scores by the Head Judge.

1.1 Block score approval

Prevents the Head Judge from approving the final score.

Behavior:

  • The Superior Judge can block or unblock a score before the score is approved;
  • While blocked, the Head Judge cannot approve the final score;
  • Once the score is approved, the block option becomes unavailable;
  • This functionality is commonly required in World Gymnastics competitions.

Display behavior: When score approval is blocked, the Head Judge will see a message indicating that score approval is currently blocked by the Superior Judge.

2. Exercise Navigation and Inquiry Revision

2.1 Navigate Locally/Follow Along

The Superior Judge can review exercises independently without affecting the live competition flow.

Navigate Locally:

  • Allows the Superior Judge to review previous or upcoming exercises;
  • Navigation does not affect the current live exercise;
  • Other judges are not affected by this navigation.

Behavior:

  • The Superior Judge cannot control the live competition exercise;
  • The Superior Judge only navigates locally for review purposes.

2.2 Navigate to Inquiry Revision

Opens the Inquiry Revision page.

Behavior:

  • Allows the Superior Judge to review submitted inquiries;
  • Allows accepting or rejecting inquiries when manual approval is required;
  • Inquiries submitted within the configured inquiry time limit (e.g., 2 minutes after the score was published) are automatically accepted;
  • When a new inquiry is submitted, the Superior Judge may receive a notification that opens the corresponding inquiry revision page.

Context:
After a score is approved, a coach may submit an inquiry requesting a review of the difficulty score.
Example: A coach believes the difficulty score should be 5.0 instead of 4.0.

Accessing inquiry revisions:

  • The Superior Judge can open the Inquiry Revision page manually using the Inquiry Revision button;
  • When a new inquiry is submitted, a notification is displayed;
  • Clicking the notification opens the Inquiry Revision page in a new tab with the corresponding inquiry automatically selected.

Note:

  • In Rhythmic competitions, inquiries may involve both the Difficulty Apparatus and Difficulty Body scores;
  • In most disciplines, inquiry notifications are sent to the SCJP;
  • In disciplines without an SCJP role (e.g., Rhythmic), the notification is sent to the equivalent superior judging role instead;
  • Inquiry behavior may vary depending on the discipline, competition configuration, and competition type;
