Creating Starting Order

Before creating the competition starting order, make sure you have:

  • Read and met all the requirements presented in the Introduction chapter, especially in the Administration Information and Requirements.
  • Configured all the competition information in the General Setup.

Also, be sure to complete all the necessary steps to set up the Participant Lists in the chapter Managing Participant Lists and all its prerequisites.

1. Where to start

  1. In the sidebar, select your competition and click Administration.
  2. If you don’t see this option, you may not be a manager for this competition.
Learn how to become a manager of an organization.

1.1 Starting Order

Before creating the Starting Order, make sure to first add and configure all the competition information.

Learn how to do this here.

  1. Select the session you want to work on from the dropdown below the tabs.
  1. Use the Speed and Freestyle buttons next to the session selector to switch between the exercise types. Only the exercise types that have a competition zone are shown.

1.2 Adding rotations to the Starting Order

A rotation is a group of participants performing together in a session and zone.

  1. Click the Add rotation button.
  1. Enter a name for the rotation and click OK.
  1. The rotation is added to the Starting Order. With 2 lanes, the rotation is created on both lanes at once.
  1. Use the Edit and Delete buttons in the rotation header to rename or remove a rotation. The header also shows the number of heats (or racers, with a single lane) and byes in the rotation.

1.3 Adding blocks to the Starting Order

A block is a collection of exercises within a rotation for one combination of competition phase, category, level and group (if any). Blocks are shown as phases: each rotation has a Phases row per lane.

  1. Click the Add button next to the lane's Phases and select the block(s) you want to add.
  1. With 2 lanes, always fill Lane 1 first: add the Group 1 blocks to Lane 1, then the matching Group 2 blocks to Lane 2.
  2. To remove a block, click the Delete button on its chip.

Repeat this process for all the blocks you want to add until all blocks are included in the rotation, competition zone, and session.

1.4 Changing the order of blocks in a Rotation

After one or more blocks have been placed in a rotation, drag and drop their chips to change their order. The matching block on the other lane follows.

1.5 Changing the order of exercises in a Rotation

For both Speed and Freestyle, drag and drop a racer to change the order.

  • Racers can only be moved within their own block.

1.5.a Speed with 2 lanes

With 2 lanes, racers are paired into heats (H1, H2, ...) by their position in each lane: the first racer in Lane 1 races the first racer in Lane 2, and so on.

  • Racers can only be moved within their own lane. Moving a racer also changes who they race against.
  • If one lane has more racers than the other, the extra racer gets a Bye — no opponent.

⚠️ Only Lane 1 can have a bye. If a racer in Lane 2 has no opponent, a warning icon is shown and the Starting Order cannot be saved until you rebalance the lanes in the Participant List.

1.6 Exercise Actions

To view the actions available for an exercise, click the arrow to expand the exercise.

1.6.a Score button

  1. Click Score to open the Chief Judge scoring screen for the selected exercise.
  2. From this screen, you can:
  • View the score;
  • Edit the score;
  • Resubmit the score (if necessary).

You can only access this screen if your competition is using the Acro Companion scoring system.

1.6.b ABS, DSQ, and DQB buttons

The ABS, DSQ, and DQB buttons allow you to manage a partnership's competition status directly from the starting order.

For information about each status, when to use it, and how to re-enable a gymnast, see the Managing Non-Competing Gymnasts chapter.
